Providing the proper in-home care for those with Alzheimer’s or other types of Dementia is critical to a person’s quality of life and well being when living at home. We understand this at Age In Place so we have created a Specialized Stimulation Program that has shown wonderful results. We work with you to establish safe and more comfortable environments, trusting relationships and techniques to maximize independence for as long as possible for those with Alzheimer’s disease. Our specialized approach of encouragement and assistance helps family members cope with the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia illnesses. We assist with:
- Creating and maintaining a safe environment
- Managing challenging behaviours
- Identifying behavioural changes
- Communicating appropriately with Alzheimer’s/dementia sufferers
- Engagement in daily activities
- Creating social interaction
- Providing mind stimulating games
Dementia/Alzheimer’s Stimulation Program: We find that clients that are offered both mental and physical stimulation during the day tend to experience a much more fulfilling life. For this reason, when possible, we reach out to our clients that have some form of dementia to create customized stimulation programs based on the client’s needs and interests. Participants take part in various activities and tasks based on their level of ability and the time that is allotted to us each day. Performing these activities will usually help the person be able to function better and improve critical reality orientation. We have seen tremendous success to date and we look forward to expanding the program even further in the near future.
